I have been crushing on dark brown rooms lately. I think it especially works well in bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms. I really want to paint a room in my house chocolate brown, but haven't gotten the nerve yet! I really love it contrasted with a crisp white trim and white linens, or with a "punch" of another bright color, like a citrus green.

Here's some inspiration...

  1. You do realize Melissa that I am now going to be forced into changing all my colors again? ;-) I love what you are doing - colors always inspire me!

  2. I have used chocolate brown with a white trim in my living room. Red accents and leopard prints set a nice dramatic tone in the room. Robin's egg blue is also a nice color to consider.

  4. Growing up, we had brown carpet. I just loved it! Then I grew up and learned that it wasn't so stylish after all. Brown (any shade) was the last color I ever wanted to use in my house. Then I saw a beautiful cottage designed by Julie Miller in D Home's Sept 2004 issue. I was stunned by how beautiful chocolate brown could be. With the right amount of natural light and soft fabrics, I have created a space that is perfect...this time more appropriate than brown carpet.
